12 deaths as Kenya records 1,530 new Covid cases

Kenya has reported 1,530 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 8,010.

The country’s positivity rate stands at 19. 1 per cent.

In a statement on Tuesday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that from the new cases, 1,468 are Kenyans while 62 are foreigners. 82 are males and 688 are females.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 132,646 while the total cumulative tests are 1,480,240.

The CS said that 129 people have recovered from the disease, out of which 74 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 55 are from various health facilities.

The total recoveries now stand at 92,290.

Also, 12 more people have succumbed to coronavirus in the last 24 hours pushing cumulative fatalities to 2, 147 hours.

Kagwe said that 1,308 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities while 4,760 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Today, 152 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 46 of whom are on ventilatory support and 97 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 89 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 78 of them in general wards and 11 on High Dependency Unit.

Nairobi has 686, Nakuru 164, Kiambu 151, Kitui 68, Nyeri 67, Uasin Gishu 65, Machakos 41, Kajiado 30, Mombasa 29, Kisumu 26, Nyandarua 24, Embu 24, and Busia 23.

Makueni 19, Muranga 16, Nandi 15, Kilifi 15, Taita Taveta 10, Meru 9, Trans Nzoia 8, Laikipia 7, Kakamega 7, West Pokot 7, Kirinyaga 3, Baringo 2, Kisii 2, Turkana 2, Vihiga 2, while Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Garissa, Isiolo, Kericho, Nyamira, Siaya and Tharaka Nithi have single cases each.
