Kenya records 1,152 new virus cases, six deaths

Cumulative tests stand at 1,463,458 with fatalities rising to 2,104.

Kenya on Saturday recorded 1,152 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's caseload to 129,330, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

Kagwe in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 8,397 tested in 24 hours recording a positivity rate of 13.7 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,463,458.

The country's fatalities have risen to 2,104 after another six death reports from diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,212 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 3,885 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 124 patients are in ICU, out of which 32 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 86 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 76 are in general wards and 10 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 152 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 59 were from the Homebased care program while 93 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 91,665.

From the new cases reported on Saturday, 1,093 are Kenyans while 59 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 569 are males while 583 are females and the youngest is a nine-month-old child and the oldest is 92.

Nairobi has 458 cases, Nakuru 139, Kiambu 93, Machakos 50, Kajiado 48, Mombasa 47, Turkana 43, Kisumu 27, Garissa 22, Kericho 22, Kilifi 21, Bungoma 20, Laikipia 18, Nyandarua 16, Tharaka Nithi 16, Kitui 13, Siaya 13, Nyamira 12, Meru 12, Narok 11, Uasin Gishu 8, Bomet 8, Busia 6,Taita Taveta 6, Nyeri 5, Kakamega 5, Kisii 4, Makueni 2, Murang’a 2, Mandera 1, Samburu 1, West Pokot 1, Homa Bay 1 and Isiolo 1.
