Six more deaths as Kenya records 410 new virus cases

Kenya on Friday recorded 410 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 105,467, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 7,180 recording a positivity rate of 5.7 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,289,979.

The country's fatalities have risen to 1,853 after another six patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 342 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,420 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 61 patients are in ICU, out of which 25 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 12 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen in general wards.

Meanwhile, 24 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 11 were from the Homebased care program while 13 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 86,521.

From the new cases reported on Friday, 368 are Kenyans while 42 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 276 are males while 134 are females and the youngest in a one-year-old child and the oldest is 83.
