Some 179 more people have tested positive for the Coronavirus bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 102, 792.

The new cases are from a sample size of 4,423 that was tested in the last 24 hours/.

A statement from the ministry of health indicated that cumulative so far conducted are 1,238,343 since the first case was reported in the country in March last year.

From the new cases, 151 are Kenyans while 28 are foreigners with 92 being males and 87 females.

The youngest is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 93.

According to the Statement, one more patient succumbed in the same period bring the total number of fatalities to 1,795.

"Today 79 patients have recovered from the disease of whom 62 re from the Home-Based Isolation and Care while 17 are from various health facilities, " read part of the statement.

The total recoveries now stand at 84,952.

There are 345 patients currently admitted in various health facilities across the country while 1,271 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

32 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit-ICU of whom 15 are on ventilatory support and 16 on supplemental oxygen.

One patient is under observation.

"Another 8 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them being in general wards," the statement read.
