Kwale man killed on allegations he had coronavirus

A man died in Kibundani, Kwale county, on Tuesday after a group of youths beat him, claiming he had contracted coronavirus.

County police commander Joseph Nthenge said George Hezron was going home after a drinking spree on Tuesday night when a mob attacked him.

He said the attackers argued with Hezron before beating him, claiming he had coronavirus.

 

"Someone reported that the attackers saw the man staggering. They approached him, started an argument and beat him up," Nthenge said.

Hezron was rushed to Msambweni Subcounty Referral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

His body was taken to Kwale mortuary.

Nthenge said they were investigating but no arrest had been made.

The police commander warned people against raising false alarm on coronavirus.
