Kenya belongs to all of us and is not owned by shareholders, Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Rev Jackson Ole Sapit has said.

Speaking in Bungoma on Wednesday during a thanksgiving service at Bungoma ACK Bishop George Mechumo’s residence, Sapit called on the leaders to be united for the posterity of the country arguing that if leaders are divided then developing the nation will be difficult.

In addition, the ACK archbishop asked politicians who have already started campaigning for 2027 to stop and work for the people who elected them.

“Kenyan politics is very funny, after an election, the campaigns begin immediately, it is not healthy for our country and economy, lets us concentrate on delivering our promises first,” Sapit said.

He said some of the campaign pledges by the leaders were unrealistic, adding that the government should now give priority to the promises.

“Let truth be told, some of the promises made by the leaders during the campaigns are unrealistic. Let them now give priority to the projects because they cannot fulfil all of them at once,” he said.

The archbishop noted that currently, Kenyans are facing the moment of truth.

“Every Kenyan is now feeling the pinch of the economy, the government should also consider the welfare of the people before passing the finance bill,” he said.

On the Shakahola issue, Sapit called on Christians not to fall prey to cultism.

“Before you decide and become a follower to these people claiming to be the men of God, please do investigations and identify the person preaching to you, someone like Mackenzie had  bad intentions with innocent Kenyans.”

He added, “There is nothing devastating as being on a journey that you don’t know where you are headed.”

“Let us build a country for posterity and a nation that all will be proud of,” he added.

Bungoma ACK Bishop George Mechumo affirmed that the church is behind and will support the government to deliver on the promises.

“Bungoma has projects that need to be revived including the ailing Malakisi and Nzoia sugar company, they are the main industries that we have in this region, therefore we shall offer the support for the government to revive them because they will help our people,” Mechumo said.
