Barasa fires three Kakamega executives, two chief officers

Says the reshuffle aims at improving service delivery

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has sacked three executives who served in his predecessor Wycliffe Oparanya's Cabinet.

The county chief also fired two chief officers and reshuffled others.

The sacked executives are Beatrice Sabana (Finance), Collins Matemba (Health) and Kulati Wangia of the housing, lands, urban areas and physical planning docket.

Chief officer Brenda Makokha of social services, sports, youth, women empowerment and culture and her public services and county administration counterpart Boniface Mudi were also fired.

Agriculture, livestock, fisheries and co-operatives executive Geoffrey Omulayi will hold the treasury docket in an acting capacity, while his trade, industrialisation and tourism counterpart Alfred Matianyi is the acting executive for roads, public works and energy.

Public service and county administration executive Rachael Okumu will oversee the health services docket in an acting capacity, while water, environment, natural resources and climate change executive Rodah Masaviru will act as the housing, lands, urban areas and physical planning executive.

In the changes, Barasa also moved the county head of supply chain management John Koveti to the county micro-finance as CEO in an acting capacity.

Koveti’s deputy Joseph Bushuru has been moved to social services, sports, youth, women empowerment and culture as a stadium manager. 

He replaces Antony Okumu who has been acting in the position. Okumu has been moved to Idakho South as an administrator.

Naomi Wangare who has been acting head of treasury has been demoted to a revenue officer.

Chief officer in the office of deputy governor Luke Otipo is the Navakholo subcounty administrator, replacing Wilson Yaola who moves to Ikolomani subcounty in the same capacity.

Ikolomani subcounty administrator Protus Mwairumba has moved to Malava subcounty in the same capacity.

The governor appointed chief officer county administration col (Rtd) Job Akhulia to oversee the public service docket in an acting capacity.

The chief officer education, science and technology Doreen Amwoga will hold the vacant social services, sports, youth, woman empowerment and culture docket in an acting capacity.

Barasa also appointed the chief officer public works Patrick Ligavo as acting housing, lands, urban areas and physical planning.
