Vihiga deputy governor-elect Wilberforce Kitiezo has promised to create room for cooperation and consultation with his boss to take Vihiga to another level.

“When we start exchanging and breathing fire to each we shall waste time at the expense of taxpayers’ money,” Kitiezo said.

“I want to ensure that Vihiga is different in terms of development, service delivery, education, water, healthcare and infrastructure,”

He said he will respect his boss and help him where possible to deliver his manifesto to the electorates.

Kitiezo is set to take over as the next deputy governor of Vihiga after being elected alongside Governor Wilber Ottichilo.

He will take over from the outgoing deputy governor Patrick Saisi.

Kitiezo will be the third Vihiga deputy governor since the inception of Devolution in 2013.

Caleb Amaswache was the first under the pioneer Governor Moses Akaranga who was elected on the Progressive Party of Kenya.

Patrick Saisi was elected second after Governor Wilber Ottichilo defeated Akaranga in 2017.

However, Ottichilo and Saisi have been working on strained relations making operations at the county more difficult.

During a past interview, Saisi had said he would not deputise Otichillo but would instead face him on the ballot saying he could unseat him.

Ottichilo accused Saisi of running a parallel government to his and angling to succeed him.

“It’s his political right but that should not give him powers to work against my administration as he is doing currently,” Ottichilo said in a past interview.

The war between the two started back in 2018 and further escalated leaving Ottichilo struggling with an impeachment motion.
