The  class Seven pupil at Buema primary, school in Musikoma ward, Kanduyi constituency died after he was hit by lightning.

He had just returned from school and was feeding his rabbits when he was struck dead.

The deceased father said the pupil had picked some vegetables from the market centre then he proceeded to feed his rabbits but then there was a heavy lightning.

"His sister went out to call him so that we could have supper together but he found him lying down, efforts to wake him up were futile as he didn't respond," he said.

He was rushed to the hospital but he had died.

"I am saddened with his death, he was a hard working boy whom I had banked on in future, I don't understand who will fill the gap," said a teary father.

Cases of lightning deaths have increased in the region something that has forced schools to erect lightning arresters to reduce such cases.
