Farmers to get subsidised maize seeds, fertiliser

Kakamega county has bought 100,000 bags of maize seed and fertiliser for 400,000 needy farmers

Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Kutima has urged farmers to register to receive subsidised seeds and fertiliser for the planting season.

He said on Monday the county government has bought 100,000 bags of maize seed and fertiliser for the targeted farmers.

“The county government will provide farm inputs for to 400,000 needy farmers,” Kutima.

He said  construction of the Malava dairy plant is on course and is expected to be completed by next month.

The factory will provide a market for dairy products in the county and the region.

Kutima urged residents to venture into dairy farming to take advantage of the dairy processing plant.
