Lawyer Edwin Sifuna and Bungoma speaker John Makali are set for a bruising battle for the Kanduyi MP seat during the ODM nomination tomorrow.
The party will conduct nominations in Kanduyi, Webuye West and Webuye East constituencies.
Another hopeful for the Kanduyi seat is security expert Gilbert Wangila.
Makali yesterday expressed optimism that he will win and eventually face Ford Kenya incumbent Wafula Wamunyinyi, whom he said will lose on August 8.
He questioned Orange House’s preparedness to ensure nominations run smoothly.
“We’re not being given the direction. We’re not even sure where the voting materials are,” Makali said, adding that they expect a free and fair process.
In a rejoinder, Sifuna yesterday told the Star on the phone that he is ready for the party poll and urged his rivals to stop crying foul.
“Let people stop being cry babies. We’re ready for the poll. We want all

losers to support the winner,” he said.
Sifuna said aspirants met the Elections Board, which briefed them on the preparations and what is expected of them.
Despite Wangila’s candidacy, political analysts have predicted a two-horse race pitting Makali against Sifuna.
Meanwhile, in Webuye East, Kingsley Mutali will face former Bungoma County Public Service Board member Peter Khakina.
In Webuye West, the contest is between Kelly Walubengo and businessman John Musundi.
Norah Owino, the County Elections Board chairperson, on Monday said presiding and returning officers will oversee the nominations and file the final results.
“The nominations will be held in all the nine constituencies in Bungoma county for various seats ranging from parliamentary to ward seats,” she said.
Okumu Majimbo, the ODM county secretary, yesterday said they will carry out nominations in five polling centres in each constituency.
“Our final tallying will be held at Ross-Wood Hotel in Bungoma town,” he said.
Kimilili, Bumula, Tongaren and Sirisia

aspirants

have been given direct nominations because they were unopposed.
