Kakamega Youth executive Suleiman Sumba has urged the state to raise the age limit of those to benefit from Older Persons Cash Transfer programme from 65 to 75 years.

Speaking in Kakamega on Monday, he said this will ensure at least 90 per cent of the elderly in the society benefit from the programme.

“Most of the people aged 65 are still energetic and active hence need to increase the age to at least 75 years to net deserving cases,” Sumba said.

The county government has allocated Sh32 million for a shelter improvement programme targeting poor, elderly and vulnerable people to supplement the state stipend.
