Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu has urged governors to stop pushing for the devolution of the security function.

He said instead, the county chiefs should work with the provincial administration to improve security at every level.

Chanzu was speaking at Vihiga Boys High School when he met more than 100 chiefs and assistant chiefs on Sunday.

He said chiefs undergo rigorous vetting and training to handle security.

The chiefs urged the government to increase their salaries.
