MORE than 50 spouses in Busia county have benefited from a free wedding service sponsored by Mundika Catholic Parish.

Parish Priest Father Maurice Langiri said the church hosted the wedding ceremony because majority of its members cannot afford costs involved.

“I am calling upon other churches in Busia and its environs to emulate the gesture and organise a free wedding ceremony for the married members of their churches who are not financially endowed as a Christman gift,” he said.

Father Langiri was speaking at Mundika Catholic Church on Sunday during the mass wedding. He said spouses should respect their marital status through faithfulness.

Father Langiri said polygamy is a major challenge to the church.

“Spouses must respect their marital status. You should remain faithful to each other not only as a precaution against HIV-Aids but in line with the biblical principles of holiness,” he said.
