Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii is spearheading the improvement of more estate roads in Eldoret to ease traffic flow and open up drainage systems in the city.

He said the county is targeting to support a 24-hour economy in the CBD and residential areas.

“With good infrastructure in the area backed by supply of water, electricity and good security, we will have a booming 24-hour economy,” Bii said.

He has instructed a team of his executives to ensure quick implementation of the infrastructure projects in several parts of the city.

The governor said he is focusing to fulfil his pre-election promises as outlined in his Nguzo Kumi agenda, particularly under pillar six on infrastructure development.

He aims to improve the county’s road network, spur economic growth and enhance livelihoods.

County roads executive Abraham Serem, together with his lands and physical planning counterpart Edward Sawe, joined residents of Langas ward and MCA Francis Muya for a tour of several completed and ongoing road projects.

Serem assured residents that Bii’s administration has put in place solid plans to provide quality roads and reliable transport networks in the region.

“This is not just about Langas; it’s about opening up the entire county for business and economic development,” he said.

The upgrade of estate roads is also going on in Mwanzo, Shauri and Maili Nne estates, among other areas.

Serem explained that adequate funds have been allocated for drainage systems to address stormwater challenges as well as for the installation and repair of street lighting to enhance security and boost trade.

Sawe also outlined the administration's commitment to expanding road infrastructure and street lighting to ensure residents’ safety.

“The governor is not only focused on road development but is also prioritising other critical facilities such as markets and hospitals,” he said.
Others in the team included deputy director for roads Linus Yego, David Rop (in charge of Urban) and Silas Leting (in charge of Kapseret subcounty).
