In courts today

Kasarani DCIO will today appear in court in DJ Brownskin's case to explain the missing police file.

On May 24, Milimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe summoned Kasarani DCIO Paul Makonge to appear in court today over failure to produce a police file in DJ Brownskin's case.

The magistrate said if he doesn't honor the summons a warrant of arrest will be issued.

DJ Brownskin alias Michael Macharia Njiiri is charged with aiding his wife Sharon Njeri's suicide on July 29, 2022.

He has denied the charges of aiding the wife's suicide.

He faced a second count of failing to use all reasonable force to prevent his wife from dying by suicide although he knew that she was planning to commit suicide.

He was further charged with destroying suicidal evidence from his phone on June 1, 2023, having knowledge that the said evidence would be required in judicial proceedings.

Ian Njoroge to appear in court for bail application

In another court, a 19-year-old student who allegedly assaulted a police officer along Kamiti road and robbed him is to appear in court for bail application.

It is alleged that he robbed the officer of a communication gadget and has been charged with robbery with violence.

Ian Njoroge appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Tuesday and denied all charges.

According to the charge sheet, Njoroge is accused that on June 2, jointly with others not before the court, he robbed Corporal Jacob Ogendo, of a police communication gadget and a mobile phone valued at Sh50,000.

The prosecution said immediately he had committed the robbery, he wounded the officer.

He faced a second count that on the same dates and place, he unlawfully beat up the officer and did grievous harm to him.

The court also heard Njoroge resisted arrest by the said officer Ogendo who at the time of the resistance was acting in the due execution of his duty.

The prosecution opposed his release on bail saying the investigating officer has not finished recording statements from officers who are witnesses.

The DPP requested for three days to finish taking statements and file a formal application to deny him bail.

However, defence lawyers led by Duncan Okatch and Soyinka Lempaa said there are no compelling reasons to deny the accused bond.

Court to hear case in which woman is accused of cyber harassment

Separately, the Court will hear a case in which one Magdalene Nichanze Barua is accused of publishing false information and cyber harassment.

She is also accused of impersonating Robert Cullens Murimi by using his email address to send fraudulent school fees claims to various recipients including international organisations and local schools.

She was also charged with falsely presenting herself as Mrs Hall to demand the cash.
