The World Health Organization country representative, Abdourahmane Diallo, and the British Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya, Leigh Stubblefield on Friday paid a courtesy call on Governor Joseph Lenku.

The two were in the company of the emergencies coordinator of the Centre for Disease Control Daniel Wako and other dignitaries handed Governor Lenku a consignment of medicines and equipment valued at Sh5 million.

“We embrace this partnership and support which will go a long way to complement the health needs of our county. I thank our international partners who are helping us to push forward our story of effective service delivery in the health sector,” said Lenku.

Today’s meeting, Lenku said, is a follow-up to their previous engagement at the UN Campus, Gigiri, on September 12, 2023, where they had an interactive meeting that touched on several programme areas.

“Our department of health has since benefitted through the WHO-facilitated training on integrated disease surveillance and response to familiarise the county leadership on the 3rd generation technical guidelines,” said Lenku.

He said the establishment of the county one health unit, supply of emergency kits, and supply of nutritional supplements has lifted the stands in the county hospitals.
