Police on Wednesday lobbed several tears gas canisters to disperse demonstrating health workers in Kericho.

At least 200 medics are demanding permanent and pensionable terms of service they say the county government promised them seven years ago.

Trouble started when the protesting health workers defied police order to leave Kericho streets and confine their demo at Kericho Level 5 Hospital.

An attempt by the police to arrest one of the medics triggered a bitter exchange of words between the workers and the cops.
