Some youth and professionals from Baringo South have pleaded with the government to end the rampant insecurity in the area.

They argued that banditry and cattle rustling has continued to retard the development of the area.

Speaking Saturday, the professionals led by Jacob Berkey lauded the initiatives by the area MP Charles Kamuren on matters of development and the fight against insecurity.

"Our MP has been persistent in the search for peace between the Pokots and the people of Baringo South. But the problem is that the Pokot side is not sincere in the fight against insecurity,"Berkey said.

They said the legislator has taken the lead in uniting the different tribes living in the area, saying the problem of insecurity has interfered with his development initiatives.

"To be sincere, our MP has tried his best on matters of development besides uniting the people of Baringo South and the County at large. This is the kind of leadership we need," Berkey said.

The professionals said they will continue to support the work of their MP for the sake of development in the area.

"We just call upon the government to ensure peace and stability to enable our leaders focus on development projects aimed at uplifting the lives of our people," he said.

The professionals urged leaders in Pokot to demonstrate their seriousness in the fight against insecurity.

"If our Pokot brothers were serious and sincere in fighting banditry and cattle rustling, this menace would have been solved once and for all, " another professional Michael ole Maiguran said.
