Four people were on Monday morning killed by suspected Pokot bandits in Turkana East subcounty.

County police commander Daniel Kinyua confirmed the incident.

He said the bandits raided a Turkana Kraal in Kachangei village, Lotubae sublocation, and stole an unknown number of animals.

“Today in the morning, some bandits believed to be from Pokot attacked a Turkana kraal within Kachangei village Lotubae sublocation, during the attack four men were shot dead and the bandits managed to drive away an unknown number of livestock,” he said.

Kinyua assured the residents that security will be beefed up and the officers on the ground are pursuing the bandits to recover the stolen animals.

The attack comes barely a week after bandits raided Lomelo village in Turkana East and killed a 41-year-old woman on a day when the CS for interior Kithure Kindiki was in Baringo.

The bandits injured one person and stole an unknown number of goats and sheep in the morning attack.

CS Kindiki was in Sinoni, Kiserian, and Kasiela in Baringo South Constituency to assess the progress of the ongoing joint ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift’ by the National Police and Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
