Residents living along a stretch of Namamga Road in Kajiado have demanded speed bumps to reduce increasing accidents, and the state has heard them by building speed bumps.

Residents live in Korrompoi, Darajani, Kimalat, Kwa Saitoti and Kisaju.

Led by their MCA Joshua Olowuasa, the residents on Wednesday wrote to the Kenya Highway Authority demanding road bumps.

The residents said unless speed bumps were installed on the stretch, families would continue losing their loved ones.

They said hardly a week passes without an accident occurring along the stretch.

“We are deeply concerned at the rate of accidents along this particular place and will stop at nothing to save the lives of our people,” Olowuasa told the Star.

He said accidents have reduced drastically in some sections of the road, where KeNHA has put up bumps.

“We are happy our request was considered and now the bumps have been erected on some parts of our road,” Olowuasa said.

The MCA said he hopes more bumps will bring down the number of accidents.

A number of boda boda riders, pedestrians and motorists have lost their lives.
