Speaking to the Star on phone on Wednesday, Kiok advised the Maa community not to be a party to Raila's protests saying the opposition is wasting Kenyans’ time.

“Kenyans are done with the elections and subjecting them to another unnecessary tension in the name of demonstrations is a ridicule to the people and he should desist it with immediate effect,” Kiok said.

He also said that it is unfortunate that the country lost a lot of money and traders counted losses following Monday’s demonstrations which were widely witnessed in Nairobi and Kisumu cities.

“It is totally despicable for Kenyans to continue to lose their properties and businesses just in the name of demonstrations. Raila should know that Kenyans are hardworking and holding regular protests, it means destroying their livelihoods,” he noted.

The elite advised Raila to shelve his plans after he announced he will hold demonstrations twice a week saying it will hurt the country’s economy after it had begun to improve when the new government took over the office.

Kiok’s remarks came at a time when Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced that the country had lost at least Sh2 billion during Monday's protests by the opposition.

He added that the former prime minister should live to the fact the head of state thrashed him in the 2022 general elections and he should allow the Kenya Kwanza government to implement their manifestoes.

“Raila should give time to the new government to deliver instead of attacking it left, right and centre. He should know that at the end of the day, the people are the ones who will suffer most,” he said.

The elite revealed that Raila is not sincere in his demonstration calls noting that he wants to seek political mileage it by pursuing his own selfish agenda.

“He is known for such actions because he wants to be relevant to the current political stand and his biggest fear is that he might just head to political cold after being defeated by Ruto by a landslide win,” Kiok said.

Raila said the mass action is meant to force President Ruto to comply with his demands.

Among the demands was for Ruto to expedite the opening of the 2022 presidential election servers and address the high cost of living.
