Kajiado South MP Katoo wins governor seat in UDA primaries

Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito beat three other candidates by 72,679 votes in the just concluded United Democratic Alliance primaries for governor ticket.

In the disputed primaries, Kajiado East MP Peris Tobiko came in the second position with 26,002 votes, while Francis Meja garnered 13,097 votes.

In the 4th position was Racheal Macharia, who got 832 votes.

Tobiko and Meja have both rejected the results claiming they were allegedly manipulated to suit one candidate.

“The UDA primaries are over and you have seen the outcome. The exercise cannot qualify to be free, fair, credible, and verifiable nominations,”Meja said on Saturday.

“I am making consultation on the next appropriate cause of action and inform you on the direction we shall be taking as soon as possible."

In the race for the senate ticket, Samuel Kanar Seki received 44,670 votes ahead of his closest contender, Daniel Tinaai (36,324) and Philip Mpaayei (14,085).

Kajiado Senator Mpaayei came in the third position.

In the Women Representative race for the UDA ticket, Leah Sankaire led others with 41,566 votes, while the incumbent, Janet Teyiaa came in second with 39,212 votes.

Juliana Katimua managed 13,244 votes as Racheal Leyian got 9,542 votes.
