Nobody has power to threaten, saying  someone cannot live in Narok. The Constitution protects every individual and [and they do not have to] move because it is only God who decides all these communities will live in Narok
Governor Samuel Tunai

He made the remarks during the funeral of Isaack Parlasoi Tirike, who died in a road accident, at Nairegi-Enkare of Narok East subcounty.

Tirike is the son of Narok county assembly majority leader Bernard Parlasoi Torome.

Present were nominated MP David ole Sankok, Narok Deputy Governor Evalyn Aruasa and Narok Woman Representative aspirant Rebecca Tonkei.

“We need to build a united county that will accommodate all the people. To do otherwise is a move backward," Tunai said.

"Nobody has the power to threaten another, saying  he or she cannot live in Narok. The Constitution protects every individual and [and they do not have to] move out of the county because it is only God who decides that all these communities will live in Narok,” he said.

He said leaders should avoid tribal politics which does not value life and instead they should focus on creating unity among all the residents.

“There is a need to unite all the clans and tribes in our county and people should continue living in peace. they should not be used by politicians to divide them. The Constitution of Kenya is clear that everyone is free to live anywhere in the country,” the governor said.

The county boss said everyone who qualifies should be able to run for any county seat.

“No one was invited to come here courtesy of a certain clan or community. It was through God’  grace and I have no apologies to make for the people threatening others,” he remarked.

Tunai said residents have rights to choose the leaders they want and not not to allow anyone to impose leaders on them.

“Nobody should force people to vote for certain political groups but the leaders should allow the people to exercise their democratic rights and vote in the leaders of their choice,” the governor said.

He said he will ensure that the next crop of leadership is ready to unite all the communities and spur development.
