Daniel Simiyu, 26, emerged the winner in the 21km race during the inaugural Nakuru City Marathon on Sunday.

About 200 elite athletes took part in the event sponsored by Stanbic bank.

The starting time was 7am and participants converged at Kenyatta Avenue.

The finishing point was Rift Valley Sports Club.

Simiyu is expected to take home Sh500,000 for the 21km race.
