‘Pray for Mariga’ Deputy President William Ruto tells Kenyans as he takes campaigns out of Nairobi ahead of the Kibra by-election slated for Thursday.

Ruto said the November 7 mini-poll shall be a ‘do or die’ battle as he pledges his full support for the Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga.

“As Jubilee, we are optimistic to win the race by a landslide. We only ask Kenyans to pray for this day, especially for our candidate, Mariga as he faces the tedious challenge” he said.

The DP was addressing while fundraising for A.I.C Church in Kabartonjo, Baringo North Sub-county on Saturday.

The by-election is aimed at replacing the late ODM Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, who died of colon cancer on July 26th and his body was cremated on August 3rd at Kariokor crematorium.

Mariga will face among them ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth, Eliud Owalo (Amani National Congress) and Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya).

Ruto who also toured to fund raise for women groups and boda boda traders in Nakuru, Baringo North and Baringo South said; “We shall take the seat by storm as Jubilee and we shall show the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) that their time for leadership in this country is gone” he said.

He said Jubilee is the best choice and it is expected to win by landslide because it has worked to accomplish many projects that the ODM leader Raila Odinga could not manage to fulfill when he served as MP in the constituency for more than 20 years.

“And that is why the people of Kibra are now complaining about almost everything in that bedroom” he said.

Ruto further nicknamed Raila ‘Ng’aniat’ a Kalenjin term he said means someone whose name ought not to be mentioned.

“Raila should appreciate the fact that he is aging and now this exercise in Kibra is a strategy to send him home to go and  warm his bed back in Bondo” Ruto said.

He humored that, “we even prepared for him a nice bed ready to escort him home to go and rest with his luggage” he said.

Ruto who seemed to use the Kibra by-election to taste his muscles ahead of 2022 politics further said, “It will be the end of an era for Raila and his NASA coalition.”

He said Jubilee headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta is intact and built on top of a hard rock where nobody whatsoever of bad will shall succeed to dissolve it.

The DP, who seemed hurt on the March 2018 handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta, also urges NASA and ODM to resolve their teething problems before lecturing Jubilee.

“You have your own teething problems with your collapsed house then you need to resolve them first,” he said.

Although Kibra constituency is seen as a heartbeat for Raila but Ruto said it is time the ruling Jubilee candidate should takeover, “in order to help prepare the ground ahead of 2022” he said.
