Nakuru Health executive Kabii Mungai said the ongoing vaccination against measles will reduce the increased numbers of deaf and dumb children in the county.
He urged all the mothers to ensure their children are vaccinated, saying measles is one of the leading causes of deafness.
Mungai was speaking at Ngala School for the Deaf on Friday.
He said the church is misleading parents about the vaccination.
“They should just visit the school and see how challenging it is to raise a special child. They should also talk to specialists to tell them how many children have disabilities because they were not vaccinated at an early age,” Mungai said.
