The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested eleven officials of the Vihiga county government over claims of misappropriating Sh 17m.

The eleven include a Chief Officer and a Director.

They were arrested Wednesday in a sting operation by the commission in Vihiga County.

The eleven are set to appear before the Kakamega anti-corruption court on Thursday morning.

Confirming the arrest, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said that the suspects could have been involved in the loss of public funds amounting to Sh17m through payments for non-existent works in the purported construction of a Blood Transfusion Centre in the county to help patients requiring blood transfusion.

“The arrested suspects who spent the night at Kisumu Port Police Station, are currently being transported from Kisumu to Kakamega Law Courts to take plea,” he said.

The commission ordered the 12th suspect who is on the run to immediately report to the EACC Regional Office in Kisumu without fail
