Philip Aroko Foundation has reiterated its fighting poverty among the residents of the Kasupil constituency by supporting the education of the needy and vulnerable children.

The Foundation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Philip Aroko billed education as the best way of transforming society.

He said the foundation is working with other partners and lobbying for funds to ensure it gets money to continue supporting the education programs of learners from financially challenged families.

“It’s through education that we’ll be able to eliminate poverty among our people. The children we're supporting today will come back after schooling and change this constituency,” Aroko said.

He argued that the current economic situation has made many families vulnerable and unable to support the education of their bright children.

Aroko said the students will be able to pursue their education to the end.

He spoke on Saturday during the distribution of bursary cheques to 246 Form One students at St Peters Kotieno primary school in Oyugis town.

Aroko said they do not want any student to fail to join secondary school due to poverty.

The foundation released more than Sh1 million to support the students.

The bursary support ranges between Sh5000 and Sh24,000 depending on the vulnerability of the students.

“We realized that not all students got help from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Ours is a supplement to enable the students to achieve their academic dreams,” he added.

Aroko who was accompanied by former East Kamagak MCA Samuel Okumu and the programmes coordinator Pacific Onyango called on all leaders to work together for the development of the constituency.

He argued that they initiated the foundation to help the needy and develop the people.

“My work is to lobby so that the foundation can achieve its objective of transforming the lives of our people. The foundation undertook public participation before we arrived at the beneficiaries,” Aroko said.

Okumu urged parents whose children did not benefit to remain patient as they will be given in the future.

He asked residents to support leaders who are development-focused. Okumu told the learners to focus on education.

“Let's support visionary people whose agenda is to develop the people. We're urging the beneficiaries as well to concentrate on academics to eradicate poverty in the society,” Okumu said.

Onyango said they will implement development projects in order of priority for the residents.

“The foundation majors in public participation before it starts implementing any project in Kasipul constituency,” Onyango said.

Some of the beneficiaries Clinton Ochieng and Clara Otieno appreciated the Foundation for supporting them.

“The support will enable us to achieve our academic dreams,” Ochieng said.
