ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo is mourning the death of Nomiya Church assistant archbishop Jared Gondi.

“It is barely a month since Rev Gondi presided over a church service which I attended at the Nomiya Church, Bondo Diocese,” he said.

Owalo eulogised Rev Gondi as a forthright, fearless and dedicated servant of God who served the church with zeal, passion and commitment.

“On behalf of the family of the late Nomiya Church Archbishop Most Rev Gideon Charles Owalo, and on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Rev Gondi and the entire Nomiya Church fraternity,” he said.

 “May God the Almighty Rest Rev Gondi’s soul in eternal peace. Gone but not forgotten.”

Owalo, whose late father Archbishop Gideon Charles Owalo was the head of the Church in East Africa for the past four decades, is a staunch and dedicated member of the church.

He was born and bred in the church. The CS has been attending church services at Nomiya church across the country.

The church was the first African Independent Church in Kenya and is renowned for initiating male circumcision about 100 years ago.

The church has a population of about 274,000 members in East Africa and its history has been a major ingredient in the high school syllabus of both religious education and history subjects.
