“The father flogged her and left her unconscious, she was rushed to a local hospital in the morning where she was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning. The father fled after it was reported to police,” Nyatike subcounty police boss Dorothy Migarusha said.

The girl is said to have died at about 6 am before the hospital could commence treatment. The body has been taken to a local morgue awaiting postmortem examination.

The incident happened at Amoyo village, Got Kachola ward and police have already alerted elders and administration from nearby Tanzania to ensure the suspect is arrested.
