A suspected thug has been lynched in Kisumu following a botched robbery incident on Monday night.
He was among the four-member gang who were captured on CCTV footage breaking into Shalom supermarket at Polyview estate when he was cornered by a mob and killed.
Police officers from the Shaurimoyo police post following a tip-off by the public arrested one of the three suspects who had escaped during the incident.
Kisumu Central OCPD Peter Mulai confirmed the incident saying it turned out to be an attempt as they were repulsed.
The suspect Ahmed Yusuf Hamisi, 36, was arrested in his house within Kaloleni after members of the public identified him after the officers reviewed the CCTV footage.
"He confessed that he was among the four who broke into the supermarket," Mulai said.
The officers found the padlock of the supermarket broken and nothing had been stolen.
Police also impounded a motorcycle which the suspects were using. The suspect is in custody at Kondele police station awaiting to be taken to court.
