Leaders in Migori County have criticised Azimio leader Raila Odinga over the latest move to discipline rebel party members in his Orange Democratic Movement outfit.

Uriri MP Mark Nyamita who is among the expelled ODM leaders hosted the leaders at St Mary Catholic Church.

“Raila can’t preach democracy for the masses and fight the same democracy in his party, this is draconian behaviour,” National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula said.

“We want to tell all elected leaders that the door to work with government for development is open as long as it is done in a Constitutional manner. The same frustrations matted to those leaders also happened to us.”

He said even if ODM locks affected leaders out, there are other parties open for them as long as they are ready to work for the mandate of the people.

Internal Security PS Raymond Omollo claimed in Kisumu County some MCAs who came to greet him were de-whipped.

“The government will work for all Kenyans and anybody who is telling others to keep away from programmes by the same government is not building the nation,” he said.

Other leaders who attended the church service included Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, Ugenya MP David Ochieng, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Ben Shibali (Ikolomani), Fred Kana (Shinyalu), Marwa Kitayama (Kuria East), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoreti North) and Kakai Bissau (Kimilili).

MCAs present were Eunice Odii (Central Kanyamkago), Peter Mijungu (West Kanyamkago), Olima Bonyo (North Kadem) and George Omamba (North Kanyamkago).

“I am yet to get the official letter from ODM over their decision so that I can know the content and my action,” Nyamita claimed.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi said despite being expelled by the ODM party they will still meet President William Ruto next week.

Omondi said the decision taken by ODM will be a big embarrassment to the people.

“We were called by people to bring development and next week we will still meet with President William Ruto for this,” Omondi said.

Ugenya MP David Ochieng’ claimed in his first term as a legislator, he was frustrated and he wrote to it seeking his stepping aside.

“I was also disturbed in my first term I wrote to the party and I am leaving and won’t want to the ticket, I ended up reelected and I am on my third term as a party leader,” Ochieng’ claimed.

Elachi, Shinali and Kakai said as elected leaders under the ODM party they will work with the government until the 2027 general election to ensure development is served to their constituents.
