Vihiga Queens head coach joins his charge in celebration after winning the KWPL

Vihiga Queens' head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu has said he will embark on a recruitment drive once they are done with Cecafa Women's Club Championships.

Nyamunyamu said they are currently focused on Cecafa club event scheduled for August and hopes to beef up the squad after that.

He said his charges have already resumed training at Kidundu Stadium ahead of the Cecafa show.

Vihiga Queens missed last year's edition of the Cecafa Women's tournament owing to the country's Fifa suspension.

He said: "Missing the tournament impacted negatively on the players and we will really have to work hard in training if we are to compete effectively against our opponents," he added.

The tactician said the good thing is that they have no injuries on the team. "Right now, the entire team is fit, no injuries, and I am sure we will perform well," he said.

Unlike Vihiga, Zetech, Bunyore Starlets, Thika Queens, Gaspo, Nakuru City Queens and Wadadia Ladies have already embarked on strengthening their squads ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

Meanwhile, Ulinzi Starlets are not keen on recruitment but will, instead, put pressure on the current squad to perform in the 2023/2024 season.

Vihiga Queen qualified for Cecafa tournaments after winning the Kenya Women's Premier League. Gaspo Ladies finished second runners-up as UlinziSstarlets settled for the third position.
