Mystery surrounds the murder of a 58-year-old man whose body was found in his house in Mowlem, Nairobi.
Police said they were Wednesday morning called and informed the body of Mutia Munyuki was lying in his house after a suspected murder.
When the officers arrived at the house they found the body with deep cuts in the face with blood caked around it.
The body lay facing down and there were indications of struggle in the house.
Neighbours told police the man was killed by people who came to his house and they don’t know the motive.
No arrest was made and the motive is being investigated, Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
In Tigania, Meru, a man was stabbed and killed as he tried to stop another one from assaulting his wife.
The deceased identified as Nicholas Mugambi Jeremiah had on Monday morning at Mugae market tried to stop a neighbour from pursuing his escaping wife.
This followed a domestic fight at their house that saw the woman sprint out to escape the man's wrath.
According to police, the assailant’s wife had run and sought refuge at the house of Mugambi. This is after her husband who is now at large chased her from their nearby house while armed with a knife.
Police said when the woman entered Mugambi’s house, he tried to stop the husband from pursuing her there.
This angered the man who drew a kitchen knife he had and stabbed Mugambi in the chest killing him.
Police who arrived at the scene said they found the body lying down with a deep cut on the right side slightly above the breast.
The body was moved to Miathene subcounty hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
The assailant is still at large and efforts to trace him are ongoing, police said.
In Bidinimole village within Mwereni location, Kwale, one Mwangale Mabumbo, 34 who was staying alone after separating from his wife following a family dispute was found dead in a pool of blood along a footpath.
Police said he had deep cuts on his head. The motive of the incident is yet to be known.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, police said.
