Homa Bay County UDA officials have been urged to maintain peace with everyone for the party to register more members and gain popularity.

The county youth league Chairman Kevin Ouma and Assistant Coordinator Kennedy Ongati said they do not want the UDA party to be associated with hooliganism which may taint its image.

Ouma directed already elected and installed ward officials to ensure they accomplish the agenda of making the party popular in Homa Bay.

UDA through its youth league leadership in Homa Bay has been undertaking membership registration and putting up its structure by electing officials from ward to constituency levels.

Hitherto, the election and installation of the party have been done in four constituencies including Suba South, Karachuonyo, Suba North and Rangwe.

The chairman said they want elected officials to focus more on wooing and bringing people into the ruling party.

“Elected officials should focus on membership registration and popularizing the party in Homa Bay. Making peace with people will ensure we achieve the empowering agenda for the youth,” Ouma said.

Speaking on Sunday when they took the membership registration and election of officials in Mbita town, Suba North constituency, Ouma urged the elected officials to ensure they sell the agenda of the party and President Ruto at the grass-root.

A total of 1,226 have registered their membership with the party in the constituency.

Ongati told the officials to register as members people who are willing, adding that it will portray UDA as a peaceful and democratic outfit.

“The elected officials should work closely and coordinate their activities to ensure the party achieves agenda of unity which is spearheaded by President Ruto,” he said.

Other officials present were Secretary Wayne Odote and the party Organization Secretary Evans Oloo.

During the exercise, Maurice Gambi was elected as the constituency chairman, Jack Sirawa (secretary), Ibrahim Wachara (Treasurer) and Nancy Gor (organizing secretary).

Oloo said they are undertaking registration and election of officials in Homa Bay without coercion and intimidation.

He asked politicians to avoid using the youth to engage in causing chaos at the expense of their benefit.

Oloo said the Kenya Kwanza administration will empower the youth by providing them with job opportunities.

“We’re asking our colleagues in ODM to buy the idea. Let our competition be of ideas, not threat and intimidation,” he said.
