Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Tuesday, accused South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro of using his residents as pawns in his political supremacy wars.

He accused the vocal legislator of orchestrating a dirty political war against him using the closure of Nduru Level Five Hospital as a pretext.

Arati said Osoro was playing low-caliber politics which are counterproductive in efforts to improve healthcare.

"We are not going to allow anybody to kill our doctor. If it is politics, let's play out there but not with the lives of our people," Arati said.

" What is being a Chief Whip? He is like a child bought sweets by their mothers and goes round villages announcing it."

The governor now wants Osoro to be accountable for the assault on two medical staff and a paramedic sent to transfer medical equipment at the facilty.

Osoro, however, rubbished the charge by the governor on a phone call with the Star.

"It is him, not me, who is playing with the lives of our people,"  Osoro said on phone.

Arati during a function at Gusii Stadium on Tuesday told Osoro to produce goons seen on CCTV protesting outside the hospital and holding staff and patients hostage.

He said his hands are tied regarding any request by the residents to redeploy doctors to the facility.

"The doctor's unions are categorical, they want all those people seized and prosecuted before they go back to work, what should I do?" he asked.

"I have tried to persuade them (the health staff) to return to Nduru in vain."

On Monday, the South Mugirango MP said it is unfortunate that the governor has not visited the hospital to get first-hand information on the situation.

"It is absurd that he is using our political differences to punish innocent members of the public, "Osoro said.

The hospital has remained shut for more than two weeks following the assault on the two medical staff and a driver.

Osoro said antagonistic politics were being played by the governor regarding the Nduru Hospital issue.

"There is clearly hate, antagonistic politics brought forward by squabbles of imaginary competitors in the 2027 gubernatorial elections which is far-fetched. We are five years away from another poll, the governor is running away from his shadow people expect that he does not play politics with their lives," Osoro said.
