Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol is set to appear before the county assembly on April 12.

This follows the assembly's adoption of a motion sponsored by Yimbo East MCA Francis Otiato to have Oduol summoned.

The house adopted the motion on March 23, during a debate that was skipped by six MCAs from the Alego-Usonga constituency.

The six MCAs chose to walk out in solidarity with Oduol who hails from Alego- Usonga.

In a letter dated March 28, copied to Speaker George Okode and Governor James Orengo, Oduol is expected to appear before the committee of General Oversight for grilling by the ward representatives.

According to the letter seen by the Star, the deputy governor is expected to provide documentary evidence supporting his utterances on governor Orengo and his administration.

MCAs who staged a walkout to distance themselves from the debate on  March 23, included Sylvester Madialo( Usonga), James Obiero Otare( Siaya Township), David Ababa Ragen( Central Alego), Masidis Madowo(South East Alego), Vincent Odawa(North Alego) and Felix Okumu(West Alego).

The MCAs want Oduol to clarify his remarks on social media platforms that Orengo's administration will be worse than that of his predecessor.

The other concerns by the MCAs include Oduol's comments on alleged Orengo's hands-off administration claims.

According to the motion, Oduol also accused Orengo of allegedly overseeing discriminatory reallocation of the budget to the disadvantage of Alego-Usonga residents.

He further alleged that the current bursary allocation and maize seeds distribution was riddled with corruption.

Oduol, according to the motion also alleged that certain officers were being targeted for removal from the county service because they come from Alego-Usonga.

The DG, the motion states, also claimed that there were some people who want him removed for his stand against corruption in the Siaya county executive.

During the appearance before the committee, the MCAs expect the deputy governor to table documentary evidence or otherwise to prove his allegations.

"It's a deep concern that the uncensored allegations by the DG signifies his lack of confidence and mistrust in the county leadership," the resolution read in part.

"If not explored, would give negative connotations about the role of the assembly on checking the executive."

According to the motion, the allegations have the possibility of implanting hopelessness in the people of Siaya.

Two weeks ago, Orengo dismissed Oduol's claims saying his DG has never won any political contest on his own and should stop daring him into a duel.
