6 people arrested for allegedly stealing and vandalising cars

He said the suspects could not explain to the detectives much about those vehicles.

Police in the Kabete constituency in Kiambu county have arrested 6 people suspected to have been stealing vehicles and vandalising their parts.

The detectives also discovered two pick-up vehicles which were being vandalised at a home in Muguga village.

It is alleged that they normally remove expensive parts whose markets are readily available. The items include a radio system, bumper, head and back lights, wheels and reams.

Other parts are removed and sold in Nairobi and other regions.

Kabete OCPD Joseph Muriuki said they were investigating a report that stolen cars are normally vandalised at that home.

"We are still investigating these people. We want to know where these vehicles are from and where these spare parts are taken" he said.

He said the suspects could not explain to the detectives much about those vehicles.

The two pickups that were found at the home in Muguga village in Kabete constituency.

They were 4 men and 2 ladies, who were locked at King'eero police station as DCI continue with investigations.

Muriuki revealed that they were investigating where these vehicles were stolen from and also where these spare parts are sold.

Detectives also discovered a third vehicle which is suspected to be used by the suspects to take the spare parts to the market for sale.

Nyumba Kumi chairman Samuel Kamau thanked the police for acting fast when they were alerted about the activities going on at that home.

He said it was a milestone since residents have been fearing passing or driving near that home.

"People have been speaking about this home silently. Motorists also fear passing nearby, they feel they may be hijacked" Kamau said.

The vehicles were also towed to King'eero police station as police investigate the incident.

Muriuki said the suspects might be charged with stealing vehicles, vandalising and selling spare parts without licenses.
