ODM Party Political Affairs secretary Opiyo Wandayi now wants all ODM candidates in the Nyanza region to hit the ground running for campaigns.

Wandayi warned those who have pocketed the party ticket and opted to keep away from politics saying they risk wasting the party in the August 9, polls.

“I would love a situation where ODM candidates from different constituencies and areas come together to campaign on a joint platform,” he said.

The Ugunja MP noted that it was the primary duty of the party members and its nominees to campaign for themselves and others within the party.

Wandayi called for unity saying confusion is not necessary a few days before the election.

“If you have no confidence in the decision that the party might have taken, then the most honourable thing is for you to first reject the party certificate," the Ugunja MP noted.

“Once you accept a party certificate to run for elective position, you are duty-bound to campaign for not only that party but also the candidate the party has fielded in all the seats."

Wandayi stated that it should be made clear ODM is in competition with other parties for the various elective seats even those parties within Azimio.

“What is bringing us together is the presidency. There is no contradiction in supporting your party as you campaign for the presidential candidate who needs the votes from everybody else who belongs to ODM and other parties."
