Beryl Awuor Mesoh has declared interest in the Kisumu governor seat.

She will battle for the seat against incumbent Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and former Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura.

The two are on the ground selling their agenda to Kisumu residents.

Mesoh, a businesswoman, said she will be running for the seat as an independent candidate and will do her campaign differently from what the other candidates have been doing.

Speaking to the media after launching her bid, she said if elected, she will generate wealth for the county through creating an enabling environment for industries to grow.

Mesoh said she will also educate people on how to grow their businesses.

“I'm vying as an independent candidate because the agenda I have for the Kisumu people needs concentration and I don't want to focus on party issues.”

She said she will also help in the creation and implementation of good policies that will lead to personal growth and improve the county's economy.

“How an economy grows or how jobs are created is not rocket science but sincere leadership, creating and implementing good policies”.

If elected, she said, she will cut down on unnecessary county government spending and direct the money to support innovative business ideas for the people of Kisumu.

Mesoh said she will also get rid of benchmarking trips for county officials and save the funds to build a mobile library that will deliver development knowledge to every county resident.

“Who really needs benchmarking trips in this world we live in today? In a world where your phone is a source of knowledge, just Google it, there is no shortage of knowledge in this world. What we lack are enough people applying and practising what they know," she said.

Mesoh said people should not wonder why she is going for the county top seat because she has a vision bigger than her.

“I have a vision for a vibrant industrial Kisumu and all I'm asking you to do is work with me. Let's figure out this thing called development together”.

“The plan is to identify businesses across Kisumu county and fund these businesses so they can grow and build wealth and create room for more people to be employed, ” she added.
