Malkia Strikers' left attacker Noel Murambi is keen to draw lessons from the Tokyo Olympics as she seeks to improve her overall game.
The KCB captain admitted she needs to improve on her strength and flexibility, which are key components of the modern game.
"I now understand that volleyball is not about natural power only but also sharpness. You need to adapt to the modern training techniques to be more flexible to play at full throttle," Murambi said.
Murambi added that the national team needs only one or two tweaks before they can compete strongly at the highest level against the best in the world.
"The game is about teamwork but there should be the go-to players in the team to help deliver at crucial moments as I saw in Tokyo. All players are good but the two or three exceptional athletes within a squad brings the x-factor," she said.
She was one of the five players from KCB to fulfil their life-long dreams of playing in the quadrennial games as Kenya returned to the global show after a 16-year hiatus.
Others include Malkia Strikers captain Mercy Moim, Leonida Kasaya, Edith Mukuvilani and Sharon Chepchumba who were regulars in the Paul Bitok-led team.
With the Olympics done and dusted, focus now shifts to the Kenya Volleyball Federation league where the bankers are in prime position for the playoffs.
Murambi pointed out that the KCB players who were in Tokyo plan to use this experience and lessons to propel the club to the league title.
"We are second in the league with one match to go and that is not good enough. We want to change the matrix by winning the play offs-giving the KCB family something to be proud of. The team is determined to end the season on a high,"she said.
Now that the club has been professionalised, Murambi expects heightened pressure on them to dethrone defending champions Kenya Prisons who have won the last two league titles.
"There are lots of expectations considering the bank's investment in the playing unit. We are not feeling the pressure but we have an obligation to repay the faith shown in us," she said.
KCB will play the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI in their last match.
