Outrage continued  to rise on Thursday following the weekend defilement of a six-year-old girl by her step-father in Kisii.

County Woman Rep Janet Ongera and Women nominees from Kisii County Assembly  described  the incident as horrible and a grave moral sin.

They  urged security agencies to speed up the  'hunt and quick prosecution of the suspect'.

The suspect  escaped moments after committing the crime. Ongera said the sheer enormity of the suspect's conduct shocks the conscience of the world.

She raised concerns over the rising defilement cases in the region.

The defiled girl was found in a coffee farm by villagers writhing in pain and rushed to Marani Sub-County hospital before she was transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

County Governor James Ongwae has since offered to pay her medical bills.

He has also directed that she be taken to a safe haven and continue her studies from there.
