Homa Bay cop attacked, pistol and bullets stolen

A police officer was admitted at the Homa Bay Referral Hospital on Thursday after he was attacked by thugs.

The officer attached to Homa police station sustained deep cuts in the back of the head.  The gangsters attacked him with crude weapons and stole his pistol.

The attack happened at 3am, when the officer was on his way back to the station from night patrol in  Homa Bay town. He was alone.

County police commander Esther Seroney said the injuries were serious.

“The suspects must have been monitoring his movements,” she said. 

Seroney said the attackers stole 15 bullets.

She said they are following crucial leads. “They disappeared after the incident but we’re pursuing them,” Seroney said.

She asked wananchi to provide information that may lead to their arrest.

“The suspects used boda boda operators to execute the act but they should cooperate with my office before they are arrested,” Seroney said.

We will not fail to bring the culprits to book, she said.
