MPs have launched an inquiry into the El Adde attack on January 15 when many KDF soldiers were killed.
The government has not released the death toll, though al Shaba
says more than 100 soldiers were killed and 12 captured.
The National Assembly Defence and Foreign Relations Committee yesterday questioned Defence CS Raychelle Omamo, saying Kenyans are still anxious.
Vice chairman Bare Shill criticised Omamo for not cooperating with the committee leading to the delay in the probe.
“We lost quite a number of soldiers whose number has not officially been released by the government. It is obvious there is a lot of anxiety andquestions the public is asking. It is up to this committee to get answers,” he said.
There have been conflicting reports on the number of Kenya Defence Forces officers killed in Somalia.
Omamo disputed the committee’s claim that her ministry was uncooperative, adding there were difficulties getting answers to questions MPs had raised.
“Without appearing to be obstructive or uncooperative with this committee, I wish to just draw to your attention some of difficulties we are having regarding responding to your queries comprehensively,” she said.
Omamo asked MPs to allow her to respond to questions she is capable of.
Journalists were dismissed and the inquiry was done in private.
