The Kisii government has dispatched Sh26 million drugs to hospitals.
The drugs bought from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency include anti-malaria and family planning drugs, HIV-Aids test kits and general essential drugs including antibiotics, analgesics and antiprotozoal.
Speaking at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Governor James Ongwae said his government spends half of its annual budget on health.
He said all the 100 dispensaries, nine subcounty hospitals, level 4 hospitals and the referral hospital have been fully stocked with drugs.
Last November, the county received drugs worth Sh26 million from KEMSA.
Ongwae observed that the drugs are expected to last up to May, when the next order will be delivered to cover for the months of June, July and August.
