The committee member said they will go round to ascertain whether the assets have been captured and whether they exist.

“We will use the report as a checklist. Some assets like vehicles cannot be tracked. But in two weeks, we will give a conclusive report to the governor for action,” the member said.

The handing over of the report meeting was attended by deputy governor Abdi Dagane, county assembly speaker Abdi Idle Gure and members of the Assumption of Office Committee.

The members include the county secretary who is the chairperson, the county commissioner and county top security officials, several chief officers, the clerk of the county assembly, representatives from the Judiciary and Ministry of Devolution and two representatives nominated by the governor.

Jama was elected after defeating Ali Korane.

He has been meeting delegations as he tries to constitute his government which sources say, he will name anytime from next week.

It will be a delicate balancing act for Jama as he tries to balance and absorb all the major clans that reside in Garissa.

During the campaigns, Jama promised to constitute an all-inclusive government where all residents will feel represented.

Already, there are applicants for different positions, with sources disclosing to the Star that the governor wants to ensure he brings on board people with a proven track record and who will deliver on his manifesto.

“The governor is determined to leave behind a legacy after completing his term. Therefore, he has to ensure that he brings on board people who share his vision and are determined to deliver,” Abdi Ali a local political analyst said
