Two men have died by suicide in Mwingi Central.

John Muthui, 25, from Katuluni village hanged himself but did not leave a suicide note.

In Thitha village, farmhand Joseph Muinde was found dead by his employer.

Mwingi Central deputy police commander Nicholas Mutua said the chief reported that Muthui's brother went to wake him up and found his body dangling from the roof.

Mutua said the deceased hanged himself using an aerial cable.

He said Muthui was facing a murder charge at the Garissa law courts.

“I suspect the court case might have pushed him to commit suicide,” Mutua said.

Muinde comes from Nuu, Mwingi East, but had worked in Thitha for a number of months.

His employer, who sought anonymity, said the helper did not show any signs of depression and it was a shock to find his body on his bed.

Mutua said the two bodies were moved to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
