UDA's Dido Ali beats opponents to retain Saku MP seat

He pledged to embrace development projects and work to improve people's lives.

Saku MP Dido Ali Raso has successfully defended his Saku parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket trouncing his opponents in a competitive parliamentary seat held on August 9.

Constituency Returning officer Simeon Sanchan declared Dido the winner after he garnered 7192 votes against his close competitor Dr Waqo Dulacha Ejersa of the Jubilee party who got 6441 votes.

The constituency has 30,209 voters. 21,263  voters cast their votes during the Tuesday general elections.

He pledged to embrace development projects and work to improve people's lives.

He commended the people of Saku for maintaining peace during campaigns, elections and announcement of results, stressing that it was a sign of political maturity.

Saku MP -elect defied the obstacles by winning for the third time in a constituency that has never re-elected its MP for more than two terms.

He attributes his success to proper service delivery to his people and being accountable to them.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2013 on a URP ticket and later re-elected in 2017 on a Jubilee party ticket.

He was appointed by the UDA party to coordinate the activity of the party in both Isiolo and Marsabit county.

The MP-elect promised to work with his opponents, calling them to bring the ideas they have for the betterment of the constituents, assuring residents that he will fulfill pledges he made during campaign.

While addressing thousands of his supporters outside Moi girls Marsabit, Dido urged Saku residents to put aside their political differences and join him in developing the constituency.

"Let's now embark on serious business to serve the people," he said

He assured residents that he will serve them equally regardless of gender, race, political affiliation or tribe and make sure the resources are shared equally in the constituency.

He said,his priority will be to continue focusing on education to ensure his constituents especially the young people get a quality education so as to promote development in the region.
