Ngomeni MCA Mutati Ndinguri yesterday urged the government to flush out camel herders from Kitui. He said residents have been suffering for a long time in the hands of bandits, who pose as herders. “They value camels more than human life,” he said. Ndinguri said areas affected include Ngomano and Mandongoi in Mwingi North constituency.Ngomano resident Kithome Muindi said camels have been destroying their crops. In February, Governor Charity Ngilu told police to arrest Somali pastoralists invading farms and homes or she would tell owners to defend themselves using arms.
